DescriptionSpecificationsQuestions & Answers
70 ml of high-quality, general use fountain pen ink from Pilot specifically targeted for plunger-type fountain pens. Each bottle contains a simple but brilliant solution to the age old problem of how to enjoy every last drop of your fountain pen. Plunger type suction fountain pens usually need a certain level of ink to be able to suck up ink into the pen body. In normal bottles, as you approach depleting ink reservoirs it gets more and more difficult to suck up ink. Each of these ink bottles easily solves that problem with a simple plastic tube in the bottle. Anyone who has ever filled a water bottle up and placed it upside down into a bowl will know how the phenomenon works, atmospheric pressure balances out so that the water in the bottle remains higher than the surrounding water in the bowl. In the case of this ink bottle, as the ink levels get low, simply tighten the bottle cap, flip the bottle upside down, and then flip it right side up. Ink levels remain higher within the plastic tube than in the rest of the bottle, allowing you to fill your plunger-style fountain pen with ease. Thank you Japan for the great physics lesson!

This is a wonderful ink, permanent on paper, and a subdued blue, it has become my daily writer ink for my school work where I can't risk my notes smudging. It's a bit pricey here, as I can get a 350 ml bottle of this ink in Hong Kong for what amounts to $15 USD, but at least you don't have to fork out a $2000 airplane ticket. It's still a good deal, especially for the properties it offers: smooth, well behaved on a variety of papers, and permanent (on paper). I would get more in a heartbeat when I run out. On top of that, it's got the old-timey ink smell to it. I think it's the only one with that scent, and it just might be the preservative they use.

This is an excellent blue-black ink. It is smooth writing, highly water-resistant and well-behaved. It is my main ink I use at my workplace. Plus the bottle has an excellent internal inkwell design that aids in filling the pen.

Beautiful, stately looking ink that is easy on the eyes, but looks sincerely elegant and "official" on paper. Unpretentious, somewhat bold with academic undertones, yet hints of greatness, posterity, and wealth.

One of my favorite inks. This ink stays blue after drying, rather than turning a sort of blue-grey like a lot of blue-black inks. Good flow, dries quickly even on Tomoe River paper and shows a hint of red sheen on there as well! Add in the fact that it's practically waterproof and this is always in one of my pens.

YOUR NEW FAVORITE EVERYDAY INK

Pilot Blue-Black is my go-to ink for getting stuff done with a minimum of fuss. It's not flashy. No one's writing any gushing posts about it on any pen blogs. But the discerning eye will appreciate its subtleties, namely its shading and red sheen. It's worked well in every pen I've filled with it, and it flushes easily. You might want to avoid this ink in a vintage pen as Pilot inks tend toward alkaline. That being said, I wouldn't hesitate to use it in any modern pen.

This is a workhorse ink that's one of the best value inks around. Buy the enormous 350ml bottle and you'll be set for years.
